ST PAULINUS' CHURCH, CRAYFORD
Another place of holy worship that’s a pinnacle part of the community, St. Paulinus’ Church in Crayford was an exciting stonemason project in Kent that required some internal work to protect the integrity of the building.
A team of masonry contractors undertook this unique project.
MASONRY SERVICES IN KENT
THE WORK UNDERTAKEN
This job was given to us by Arte Conservation, leading specialists in art conservation and proved to be an exciting stonemason project in Kent .
The areas of concern were two sections of moulding above and below a gilded frieze with biblical text, to be restored by Arte Conservation.
The 2 moulded sections were removed previously to allow for a wooden panel to be installed but needed to be reinstated now the wooden panel had been removed.
The stones installed were worked and provided by Pinnacle Stoneworks and were in Caen stone – another example of how we can either work as the sole stonemason, or alongside recommended masonry contractors.
The openings had to be tidied up either side and deepened to allow for the new stones to have a decent fixing and the bottom moulded sections were pinned in place with stainless steel threaded bar to ensure its stability.
We then rebedded the gilded frieze pieces that had to be removed to allow for the stone to be installed before finally fixing the new stone on top.
